More of The Outside

We're back with more pictures of the outside of the new place.  These were taken during one of the (many) house inspections...

1) Just to the right of the front door.  The fountain has been removed as it was non-working.

2) The previous owners had a great little bistro set on the porch - we're thinking we'll do something similar - eventually.

3) The garage. Under the light on the right side - that's the slot for mail. I'd never seen slots that drop into the garage, but they are all over the place here.  I'll have to get some pictures of the box that the mail drops into - it's deeeep - and I'm not wild about sticking my hand in there every day (spiders!).  The front yard has been landscaped to need minimal care - and it's working - we have had the house for about three weeks and we haven't done anything with the front yard.

4 and 5) Does anyone know how to remove spay paint from the side of a house? or from flagstone? Ugg. Us either.

Next time, we'll go back inside!

A Few Pictures From Outside

The backyard of our new home...

1) A lemon tree! We were practically giddy when we realized that we have our very own lemon tree. The current belief is that they are meyer lemons.

2) Steps up to the gully and then a bit step over - more steps up lead to what looks like a former garden area. This side of the yard is super shady thanks to the cluster of trees.

3) A great view of the gully. It sounds like this was installed more than 20 years ago. It runs the entire width of our property (and continues through at least 3 other properties).

4) The deck is Trex (yippy! no maintenance! right?). And a beautiful trellis with (I think) jasmine growing like mad over it. There are so many plants on the property - we're going to need to spend some real time figuring it all out.  The patio furniture belongs to the former owners - we haven't put anything out there yet.

 5) The sliding glass doors lead into the sitting room.  The fountain hanging on the wall was one of the few things that previous owners insisted on being able to take with them - we were totally ok with that. We love the flagstone patio.

6) The view to the upper right side of the lot.  It looks like there's another (abandoned) garden area on this side of the yard, too. We have a gate on the far side of the tree that leads out to the open space. There's a serious assortment of woodland creatures out there - we've seen deer, squirrel, turkey, and lots of quail.

7) We've seen evidence of a built-in sprinkler system, but we've not investigated it fully yet.

8) The view from the master bedroom. Seriously. We wake up and see this every morning.

We really couldn't be more excited about the new place.

In other news, Jeff called the movers today (it's been a week since they packed up the old place). They plan to load it on a truck today. This means it will be at least a week before it arrives here from New York.  Stay tuned!
